Ivona Juka

screenwriter and director

The award-winning director of shorts Garbage and Editing, and writer and director of the feature-length creative documentary Facing the Day, Ivona is an author whose voice was recognized long ago, when the European Film Academy selected her as one of five European students to make a short film for awards ceremony in Berlin, and participate at the EFA conference „Cinema of Tomorrow“ in Warsaw, as one of the most perspective young directors in Europe. Her filmography so far includes:

YOU CARRY ME (Ti mene nosiš), feature fiction film, 2015, 4FILM Ltd. Ivona Juka received the City of Split Award for the best script for You Carry Me as well as „Branko Bauer“ award from Croatian Film Directors’ Guild; she was granted a fellowship from the NIPKOW PROGRAM – a well known German program for media professionals. You Carry Me received éQuinoxe Master Class scholarship as one of the ten best European projects. You Carry Me received production support from the Croatian Audiovisual Centre, Slovenian Film Fund and the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Serbia. It was supported by Eurimages as well.

IF I WERE SOMEONE (Da sam ja netko), TV series, 2015, 4FILM Ltd, VIEW FROM A WELL (Pogled iz bunara), short fiction film, 2010, 4 Film Ltd, written and directed by Ivona Juka, won the award for best director at American International Film FestivaL, the award for the best film in 35 mm, the award for the best supporting role (Nera Stipičević) and the special mention at the official competition of Molodist Kyev International Film Festival.

Helena Beljan

Helena Beljan is a charismatic young actress whose talent and passion have yet to be discovered by a wider audience. Her natural ability to plunge into emotions, virtues and flaws of the character she is playing, makes her one of the most promising young talents in Croatia. This is her acting debut in a feature-film, for which she was chosen among 250 children.

The director Ivona Juka spotted her hanging out alone in the backyard after everyone had already gone home. Despite the objections of the production team, Ivona decided to cast her for the lead role and Helena made a big impression during rehearsals, not only because of her physical transformation but also with the level of commitment and concentration she has shown.

Her previous film appearances and roles include shorts like Ema by Krasimir Gancev and S kim živi žutokljunac by Kristina Kumrić.

Nataša Dorčić

Nataša Dorčić (Nataša) is a renowned Croatian film and theater actress, known for her numerous outstanding roles and awards, including Golden Arena for the best leading actress in Recognition (Prepoznavanje) by Snjezana Tribuson and I Have to Sleep My Angel (Moram spavat’ anđele) by Dejan Aćimović.

Her latest achievements include awarded films Just between Us (Neka ostane medu nama) by Rajko Grlić and The Show Must Go On by Nevio Marasović.

Nataša speaks English and Italian, with Italian being her second mother tongue.

Nataša Janjić

Nataša Janjić (Lidija) has become one of the most sought-after young actresses in Croatia in the past few years. After her theater debut in Youth Theatre Split, she enrolled both in the Faculty of Journalism and in the Academy of Dramatic Arts in Zagreb, but decided to pursue acting career.

Bigger and leading roles in regional film productions such as All for free (Sve džaba), Donkey (Kenjac), St.George Shoots the Dragon (Sveti Georgije ubiva aždahu) and Vegetarian Cannibal (Ljudožder vegetarijanac) confirmed her talent and justified her decision.

With outstanding performances in Atomski zdesna and You Carry Me, Nataša continues to build a respectable acting portfolio with true star potential. In 2011, she was named one of the “Top 15 most beautiful Croatian actresses of all time” and her professional reputation was recognized when she was selected for a member of the jury at Pula Film Festival in 2011.

Lana Barić

Lana Barić (Ives) started her career in Sarajevo, after graduating from the Academy of Performing Arts in 2005. TV shows and small but recognizable film parts (Go West by Ahmed Imamović, CO/MA by Mike Figgis, Our Music by famous Jean-Luc Goddard) were enough for Croatian theatre director Ivica Šimić to cast her for the play “Humble Boy” at Mala scena theatre in Zagreb.

That same year she was chosen to play Clytemnestra in “Iphigenia”, for which she won numerous awards, including the Croatian Actors' Guild Award for the Best Young Artist. Finally, in 2009 her film career kicked off with a short film Yellow Moon (Žuti mjesec) and a memorable role of a desperate woman.

Noticeable were also her roles in Mother of Asphalt (Majka asfalta) by Dalibor Matanić and Night Ships (Noćni brodovi) by Igor Mirković, but she is best known for her role in Hush (Šuti) by Lukas Nola, for which she won the Golden Arena for best supporting actress at Pula Film Festival 2013. The role of Ives in You Carry Me is her debut leading role.

Goran Hajduković

as Vedran

Goran Hajduković is an amateur actor with no film experience prior to his role in You Carry Me. He is best known for his notorius past.

His real life experience and his natural roughness, which formed both his personality and the personality of his character, made him the perfect choice for the role of Vedran.

Vojislav Brajović

as Ivan (ives's father)

Vojislav Brajović (Ivan), a true legend of Yugoslav cinematography, has played in more than 60 films and TV series, with some of his most famous roles being in A Soldier's Love (Vojnikova ljubav, 1976), The National Class (Nacionalna klasa, 1979), Hello, Taxi (Halo taxi, 1983), Tight Skin (Tesna koža 2, 1987), Tito and I (Tito i ja, 1992), The Tragic Burlesque (Urnebesna tragedija, 1995) and The Powder Keg (Bure baruta, 1998).

He became widely popular in ex-Yugoslavia for his role of Tihi in TV series The Written-Off (Otpisani, 1974) and its sequel The Return of the Written-Off (Povratak otpisanih, 1976), and he won almost all relevant awards for acting, including the Life Achievement Award “Dobričin prsten” for his roles in Yugoslav theaters.

In 2007, Brajović applied his professional expertise and extensive knowledge of cinematography in a new role – that of Serbian Minister of Culture and then advisor of Serbian president Boris Tadić.

Sebastian Cavazza

Sebastian Cavazza (Marin) is an all-around media professional. In the spotlight since the beginning of his career, he has worked extensively in professional theater productions, on film, television and radio, as a model and host of various events.

In 1995 he co-founded Studio for the Research into the Art of Acting, which gave him a chance to work with several world-renowned acting teachers (Vladimir Davidovic Tarasenko, Andre Delvaux, David Zinder, Lee Delong etc.) and organize numerous acting workshops.

Apart from acting, he runs a successful business with his production company and works on his own projects as director of photography, editor and director of short films, advertisements and music videos.

Filip Križan

as Filip

Filip Križan (Filip) made his acting debut in „Caligula“, theater play directed by Tomaž Pandur in 2008, after which he played several smaller successful roles in theater ( „Zaljubljenici“, „Zečja rupa“), and in well known TV series such as „Mamutica“, „Bitange i princeze“, „Odmori se, zaslužio si“, „Dobre namjere“, and „Operacija kajman“.

He also starred in two shorts (Nothing Personal/Ništa osobno by Marko Šantić, and Pink Express by Ivan Livaković) and won FRKA award for the best male role in Livaković’s film exercise Harakiri Children (Harakiri djeca, 2010).

The Role of Filip in You Carry Me is a welcome step forward in his promising career as a film actor.

VLADIMIR GOJUN was born on February 15, 1979 in Dubrovnik, Croatia. He graduated Film Editing from the Academy of Dramatic Arts in Zagreb, where he has been teaching since 2007. He has edited internationally acclaimed features:

Vladimir is currently working on his new documentary entitled DECISIONS RICOCHET, about a unique and talented young singer/songwriter from Croatia.

Anita Juka

Anita is a successful producer and co-producer of feature films which include Here (Tu), directed by Zrinko Ogresta, winner of the Crystal Globe - the Special Jury Prize at 39th Karlovy Vary IFF, Grand Prix at 9th Milan IFF, and Critics Award at 26th Mediterranean FF Montpellier; and Slovenian Girl (Slovenka), directed by Damjan Kozole, which was in competition at Warsaw, Sarajevo, Toronto, Reykjavik, Portorož, Valencia FF etc.

She has produced highly successful Croatian fiction and creative documentaries that have won numerous awards at international festivals, but also achieved significant theatrical distribution in the Balkan countries. Among these are the creative documentaries Facing the Day, Bad Blue Boys and Blue Rose Garden (Vrt plavih ruža), which won major awards at GoEast Film Festival, Sarajevo FF, DHF, DocMa... These films were screened in competition of San Paulo, Oberhausen, Teheran, Hamburg, Montreal, Toronto, Lubin, Split, Zagreb, Prizren, Budapest, Rotterdam and other film festivals.

Anita produced anthology film Some Other Stories (Neke druge priče), which won four international awards and was presented at thirty international film festivals, including those in Montreal, Warsaw, Valladolid, Cairo, Kerala, Gotteborg and Manheim-Heidelberg. In 2010, she was invited to sit in the jury of Warsaw Film Festival, and in 2011, at Czech National Film Festival in Plsen – FINALE.

Teho Teardo

Composer, musician and sound designer interested in developing possible combinations between electronic and acoustic sounds.

He began playing clarinet at the age of 8, but a few years abandoned it for a guitar, when the Ramones released their first album and marked the beginning of a new world. From then on, Teho collaborated with artists like Blixa Bargeld (Einsturzende Neubauten), Girls Against Boys, Cop Shoot Cop, Lydia Lunch, Alexander Balanescu, Graham Lewis (Wire), Mick Harris, Socìetas Raffaello Sanzio, Mario Brunello, Jim Thirlwell and many others. Teho is also one of the most active musicians involved with cinema. He created soundtracks for prominent directors like Paolo Sorrentino, Andrea Molaioli, Daniele Vicari, Gabriele Salvatores, Guido Chiesa.

UK label Expanding records recently released “Soundtrack Works 2004-2008”, a selective compilation of Teho’s film music, which has won many major awards and much critical acclaim. The album includes music from the international hit and Cannes jury prizewinner Il Divo (by Paolo Sorrentino), which also won the Ennio Morricone prize. Ennio Morricone himself presented the prize to Teho and the Il Divo soundtrack went on to win the David di Donatello prize, the most important prize for music in Italian cinema.
